Fiction: Dan Knight's Journey, by Edward F. Smith

Dan Knight's Journey, by Edward F. Smith takes place in Manhattan and is the tale of an adolescent boy who finds himself hanging around some less than desirable elements. He grows into a teenager who continues his shady activities and begins having romances with multiple females, when all of a sudden he has a fall out with a guy named Robert. In his adult life he lands a steady job, but continues to juggle women right up to the surprise ending.

I feel that this story needed more development. The premise of the story was good, but it read like American Psycho, which I did not particularly like. Though this wasn't a satire like AP was, it had a lot of the same " I woke up and did this, then this, then this," which became monotonous.

With some better development the book could have been a lot more engaging and realistic. It has a good foundation that just needed to be built up more sturdily.

On a scale of 1-4, I give this book a 2.
