Fantasy: A Chronicle of Endylmyr; The Witches of Endylmyr, by Charles Hall

The Chronicles of Endylmyr; The Witches of Endylmyr is an epic fantasy about empires of people in all four directions of the world, mostly focusing on how each interacts with the people of the western realm, specifically the land of Endylmyr. The Khan of the east is in search of power he believes is held in objects of magic. In his quest to obtain such items from all over the world, he brings the fight to the gates of Endylmyr. The people of the north rally with those from Endylmyr in their stand against the Khan, while the prince of the southern regions lets his own greed guide him.

This story was well thought out. The characters were varied and fairly well fleshed out. There were a couple of areas that could have had a bit more depth in terms of character development, but overall they were well done. I liked the way that the various regions were incorporated with one another, and that the descriptions were fairly vivid. I liked the contrast of the people, especially of the women.

I do feel that some revelations that were made in the last 50 or so pages could have been made sooner in the text. Also, there were a couple of areas that I feel things were a bit too drawn out. Overall, though, a good tale told.

On a scale of 1-4, I give this book a 3.5. I enjoyed the quest and have been led to believe there will be a sequel in the future (of which I look forward to reading!).
